What are Your needs?

Studio photography

How this works?

  • You first need to understand that I’m located in Tartu and do this as a hobby and at this point in time, the studio is set up at my home (will fix it once we see that renting a studio is worth it).

  • Think about how much time You have and money (see pricing)

  • Think about what types of images You’d like to get: black and white, dark, colourful

  • Think about what to wear, what kind of props to bring with you (for example a guitar if You play guitar or apples if you’re really into apples etc).

  • Then You contact me, we chat for a bit, agree on a time and the price and move on from there.

But of course… First, scroll down, explore and enjoy the example images below.

  • As the first thing, to warm up, we’ll create an “avatar” for You of You. It’s simple, it’s intimate (the camera will be really close to You) and it will make You realize that being in front of a camera could actually be quite fun and You’ll be ready for what’s next after making weird faces and gestures with Your hands for a few minutes.

After we’re all warmed up, we can continue the exploration of who You are in front of the camera. Depending on your wardrobe, hobbies, available time and budget, we move on to taking the type of pictures closest to Your heart at that time. We, of course, had discussed the options already before our special photoshoot, but this, is a must for any photoshoot (for a first-timer at least)

  • A white background can produce what I’d like to call passport pictures (which, unfortunately, if we don’t invest time into this, will be the case). If we do, however, go ahead and invest some time and effort into this:

    • play around with lights (we just light up one side of the face, or even remove the light from You altogether) and see what works and what doesn’t

    • add/remove hats and/or earrings (imagine adding a sigar and smoke… but no smoking allowed)

    • try different poses, looks, clothes

we could have something that will be better than any other picture with any other background at our disposal (especially when You are not a “color” fan).

  • Black or red color clothes work best here, and almost all pictures. that we make, are winners, whether you’re angry, happy or indifferent. Usage of only 1 or 2 lights add a lot of mystery to the image, thus the pictures just work.

After we have played with lights, let out several different emotions and gestures, the only thing left for You to do, is to choose the ones that You like the most.

  • A black background doesn’t mean, that he image has to be dark. Yellow, red or white (even better, a mix of all kinds of colors) work well on a black background.

Earrings, glasses, hats or just an emotion that goes with mood You want to portray, work very well.

Of course I still like to remove a bit of light from a side of Your face to add some contrast.

We can get a nice portrait out of it. They will, however all be “the same”. You can chance clothing, do all kinds of different things, but in the end it’ll just be one image that’s the best of the best for You and the rest you wouldn’t need to use. We of course will try all kinds of stuff, but there will be only one winner.

  • This is where we can make some magic.

Dark pants, colorful shirts, colored hats work best here.

Of course If you have a nice little hobby. For example, You like to cook, play cards or play an instrument, you should bring the instruments to the photoshoot.

We’ll take out the wide angle lens lens, and thus make everything bigger in the foreground of the picture. The effect will be just magical.

Every image will be different (especially when we change clothes in between) and a bit “weird”, thus exciting. The only question is: do we have time, do we have enough clothes and, in the end, which ones do You want.

  • If You are looking to show off your clothes, long legs, or your hobby is just too big for half body portraits described above, we can go farther back, capture the whole You, because the whole You is awesome, not just your upper half, isn’t it?

We will still be using the wide angle lens here to make the legs longer or stuff in the foreground larger, as the alternative would be boring (in my humble opinion).

More stuff fit the screen, but it doesn’t mean that we want to fill the image with objects, no, we want You to shine and the objects to just complement you.

It is, however, one of the most difficult and prone to produce a mediocre image, it’s pretty much us trying different positions to find the best pose for You, the light doesn’t play a big role here.

On the other hand, as You can see from the images below, one could go away with 4+ proper and different style photos just from one photoshoot.

  • Black clothes, a black hat, some colorful jewelery, maybe just a bit of color (a bit of red or yellow) and a lot of moving the lights around.

The result can and will be… special.

  • This is very close to my heart.

Whichever background or costume we use, the picture is almost guaranteed to be extra special and different. Below are sample images of just one photoshoot. All of them are special (in my humble opinion).

The question is only: what is Your favourite background colour?.

  • If you’re a man looking to get some awesome portraits with a bit of exaggerated face lines.

Or a woman looking to get a “nice” and soft portrait this background is perfect for that. We just light You up, add some extra light behind you, take a pic or two and… we’re done.

This background doesn’t require any type or color of clothing, it’s just perfect for anything (it’s small though, so no full body portraits from this background).

  • Be it full body or half a body, when You are looking for something fun and more interesting than just a pretty image, this is the background to use.

Yellow background goes best with Yellow, black, blue or purple clothes and portrais happiness. Of course we can forget all that and use whatever we have to get a decent image. Still, fun/happiness is what I personally suggest.

It’s an easy background to work with, but You have to be willing to go the extra mile, it will be plain without emotions or portraied activities.

  • Especially, when you have reddish hair, like to use lots of red lipstick, have red or blue clothes (and/or items), the red background works best for you. Of course Black on red works well as well, as we know (if red on black works, then black on red works as well)

It’s one of the most difficult backgrounds at our disposal. Sexiness/playfulness is key.

If we do pull it off, the result will be much-much better than whatever we can produce from a black background (it’s just so much more special to have more color in your images)..

  • Blue is associated with sadness, tranquility and happiness. It’s also my favorite color.

Yellow/orange color and of course blue clothing works best for a blue background.

It is, however, difficult to pull off and if You don’t have blue, yellow or orange clothing, we will not use this background.

  • Think long and hard about this. There are so many photographers out there who do an awesome job at photographing groups of people together.

If You, however, think that, after being photographed separately, you have something missing, we can try to create something fun or deep. It’s just… you never know if we’ll get anything good or not.

  • Think long and hard about this. There are so many photographers out there who do an awesome job at photographing children (also, babies i don’t do), but if You happen to have a baby with You, who am I to say no, am I right?!

Photos anywhere

How this works?

You first need to understand that I’m located in Tartu and thus the photos will be taken in and around Tartu.

  • Think about how much time You have and money (see pricing)

  • Think about what types of images You’d like to get - if it’s not something fun, then we’re not going to be a good fit.

  • Think about what to wear, what kind of props to bring with you and where You would like to be photographed (it can be Your home, Your office, outside or anywhere really).

  • Then You contact me, we chat for a bit, agree on a time and the price and move on from there.

But of course… First, scroll down, explore and enjoy the example images below.

  • As You can see below. Only a few examples are portraits. We can go ahead and do them, and that’s fine, but we’re outside, we should appreciate it and capture more than just Your face or upper body.

    • If it’s rainy, let’s do something in the rain

    • If you have a hobby, like playing a guitar, let’s set up a scene for that.

    • If You like teddybears, let’s use them.

    • If we go out during sunset (the best part of the day), let’s use that and do some silhouette images.

    • And of course. Fun dresses in the wind is always something we could use.

    • If there are fields, let’s use them.

  • There’s a lot we can do. I’m sure that together we can find something absolutely crazy or dumb.

Be it vacuuming with a lawn mower, cutting bread with a chainsaw, cutting grass with scissors etc, our only limitation is our collective brainstorming before and during our photoshoot.

Location is irrelevant here. We can be at Your home, in Your backyard, anywhere, really.

Videos

They say that a picture is worth a 1000 words. What, then, is a video worth?

Nothing, if made badly.

Now, I don’t believe that I’m an expert in videography. Far from it and it’s fine. But, this is my greatest passion and combined with my sense of humour and/or style, the videos I could create for You might be just right for You. Let’s explore below what You might get for Yourself.

Types of videos could we create together:

  • (Parts of) a wedding or why not a proposal or pre-wedding action to show during the wedding.

  • Music videos

  • Showcase Your store, Your hotel, Your Spa, Your whatever.

  • An ad for Your play…

Types of videos I could possibly say no to:

  • Just recording an event without any special scenes for people to play out.

Note! It is important to understand that a great video requires planning, some time for filming and even more time to edit it, so it is more expensive than a photoshoot. See pricing for additional information.

Beautiful with a few funny bits.

We created this in a land far far away.

We only had 3 hours until the sun went down (it happens in far-away-lands) and had absolutely no planning whatsoever.

Naturally, with proper planning (and thus extra cost) and more time, this could have been even better, but in the end we need to play the hand we have been dealt (budget and time-wise) and I am very happy with the result.

Made to stand out

As You can see from most of my videos, I have had the pleasure of working with the most talented actress (who is still available if she is someone You prefer), but anyone could be the star(s) of the video.

The video is a great example of how You’d be able to showcase Your leisure establishment.

This took a bit of planning and just a few hours of filming. A fair bit of editing, later, though.

Outside some buildings

Tired of just some random (but surely beautiful) clips of Your new development? Working with me, could be just for You?

Took a bit of planning (not much, because that idea we had used before) and just 2 hours of filming and some editing, of course, and the result is, in my humble opinion, acceptable for such a short time.

Do it Your way

How do the Young people vacation nowadays, was the big question we asked ourselves when we got this project to work on.

The video, though maybe a bit too long (but the client was happy), answered this question well, in my humble opinion. It also shows that You can perfectly combine outside and inside and fun in one video.

Just some acting

The client had an idea to create a 30-second-long clip for an ad. We tried and tried for a few hours and got so much content that a longer one was preferred in the end.

Just a simple music video, like this, is maybe something that You’re looking for (actors and actresses not included)?

Coffee and cake anyone?

In and out in a 2 hours and one of us were lucky to eat and drink during that time. The perfect way to create a special clip for “Your” establishment.

Match the tone of Your music

The client had a pretty specific wish. Personally, I would have done a more upbeat clip and created more content (and would have liked to reshoot some clips), but as always, we have limited amount of time and money. This is the result of about 2 hours of shooting.

That small but fun place

It’s nice to be called back. Below are two clips featuring one of the best gift stores in Tartu. Maybe You have something similar that You’d like to showcase?

Events

Weddings

We can capture anything together with You before or during Your special day. Can be only pictures, could be a fun clip, maybe even both. But when the party starts, I’m going home, unless You’re made of money, of course.

Something special during Your event

You have a party? No problem, let’s create a corner I can do something fun with people (set up a studio, or if You have extra money, some furniture, even?).

Just capturing an event

No! Capturing people in their natural environment is something for someone else.

  • Transportation cost is extra in case outside of Tartu.

For each hour, You will have up to* 4 edited images included in the price.

Each extra image: 20 EUR

* Why up to? We might go out just to get that one perfect image, in that case I can’t edit 4 images for you, because there will only be that one image, but in case we do try 4 different images, then You will get all 4 of them.

  • Planning discussions before filming on location 100 EUR per hour.

My version of a video clip for You is included in the price.

  • 100 EUR per hour for modifications to my version of the video video.

Actors and actresses are Not included in the price.

Events

100-? EUR per hour depending on what You need. For example:

  • If You just want someone to capture people at a party without special editing later (just add a filter and be done with it), then it’s easy, you can get them all with just 100 EUR per hour. No “just capturing people in their natural element”, though, please.

  • If You want to capture yourselves with some nice clothes on (like for example a wedding dress), then You’ll be limited to 4 edited pics per hour (it would then be just a normal photo session, wouldn’t it?).

  • Or maybe You would like a combination of the first two.

  • If You want a video and pictures of the special event, then… it all depends.

Basically You need to tell me what You want and Your budget and we’ll surely come to a compromise.

Things to note

Note! During the photoshoot in the studio, we need to change backgrounds, set up the lights and You need to get changed. The white background for Your avatar will be set for You, before the photoshoot. Why is this important? The less we change the backgrounds and clothes and play with lights, the more time we will have for creating images, though similar, so boring.

Note! Think hard about Your budget before the photoshoot. You have a choice here: Do you want to concentrate all that time meant for one block only for that one absolutely perfect image or do You want to play around and have for example 10 images of similar style by the end of the session. My suggestion would be to think quality over quantity (especially because quantity will cost you extra).

Note! The images and videos belong both to me and You. Meaning: I can use the result in any way I want or like - add to facebook, instagram, my web page etc (but I can not sell them without Your permission and You getting a cut). Having said that, if I want to use the image(s) that You did not choose to pay for (meaning: you didn’t want it), then You will get that image for Yourself as well, for free.

About me

Likes

I love shadows, colours and emotions and, if even a little bit possible, I like fun.

An ideal dream picture, for me, would be of a person doing something ridiculous in colourful clothing being angry/sad/happy… whatever. It could be done either in a studio (easiest to control the light) or just outside, at your place, wherever, really, it’s just the idea/dream that needs to be made true.

I do like black-and-white as well for some reason - especially when we leave just one colour in, it could be magical (though, not black and white any more, is it?).

Of course doing something ridiculous in front of the camera is not for everyone and that is fine. It is not fine, however, to not show any emotions at all. Be ready to be sad/happy/angry when we photograph You together.

Dislikes

Passport pictures will not happen. I won’t go to a company, set up my lights and then photograph 50 people in the same place, same lightning, being unhappy about being at work doing stupid things like taking a stupid boring passport photo.

My gear

For the gear geeks. Yes, I have been blessed, I own my dream camera with the necessary lenses:

  • Camera body: Canon EOS R5

  • Lenses:

    • Canon RF 15-35mm f2.8 (for that wide angle fun you can see throughout this page)

    • Canon RF 85mm F1.2 (for that perfect dreamy portrait)

    • Canon RF 70-200mm F4 (in case I need to be farther away)
